Readings by Andrzej Krukowski and Janet Ulrich Brooks and a musical performance by vocalist Bethany Hamilton and pianist Rob Clearfield celebrate pianist and composer Frederic Chopin.
Chopin IN the City is a celebration of the life and genius of Frederic Chopin, displayed in a rich program of concerts, presentations, film screenings, and music workshops around Chicago, aimed at audiences of all age groups and backgrounds. Although Chopin remained loyal to the core influences of the Polish folklore in his compositions, he also had an unparalleled ability to go beyond this comfort zone and demonstrate his versatility by incorporating the influences of new environments including that of his life in France. The festival will showcase a wide range of forms and styles of music including classical, jazz, and world music – all integrating Chopin’s compositions. The full Chopin IN the City festival takes place February 22 – March 1, 2017.
Presented in partnership with Sounds & Notes Foundation and in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago.
Free admission.
